PROJECT : CUSTOM WALL ART FOR FIT BY W HOTELS WORLDWIDE

This particular project we needed to first create a “Step by Step” process to present to each W Hotel property worldwide. The process would include a dedicated Hotel Design Narrative describing the vibe and location history of the particular location. Using a Design Narrative sets up future themes that will be used to inspire the final art work. A mock layout would then be created to showcase where the artwork would be positioned on the chosen wall of the gym. Once approved by the hotel, we then move on the next Step Two

STEP TWO

The next Step would involve presenting the particular hotel property with options from a photo shoot that was produced for this world wide project. We would take into account the wall size that is going to be used for the art work and display in scale how the model images would look on the wall. Once the property approves an image, we would send a color palette based on the themes provided by that location. The hotel can approve, change or present their own color palette for use during the creation of the art work. The last part of this Step we would create a mood board for the art work, based on the hotel property’s themes and history. Once the property has approved, we move onto Step Three.

STEP THREE

During the last Step in the process, we want to make sure the hotel property is happy with the choices made so far. At this point if the property wanted to make any major changes ( model choices, color, design, additional themes, etc ), this would be the moment for those changes to be made before creation of the final art work begins. An example of this would be with the location in New York City ( Union Square ). The hotel did want to make a total redesign change for the entire artwork that was previously approved. They decided they wanted to have a different set of models and wanted to change the graphical elements to have more of a “ New York City “ influence. We always want to work to make our clients happy during a project, so we accepted the changes for the final Steps for the property. Once everything has been approved, we then started work on the art piece, incorporating hand made textures, photography, graphic design, and fine art techniques to create something visually original for that property. The final image is now ready to be sized and printed for wall application for the property.

This Three Step process was created to accommodate multiple properties in the W Hotel line. We needed to create a “ Road Map “ that we can present to each W Hotel property around the world to follow in a well organized way to create very specific art work for their FIT gyms. Creating an easy process to follow for so many properties was our way to streamline each hotel’s design needs. We worked together with Starwood and each W Hotel property to make sure every detail was perfect.

IT’S ALL ABOUT TEAMWORK.
